Depths of the Facility

This was just supposed to be a sketch but it kind of…went beyond that as things tend to do.
So anyway, here's the Optimism Core (The Once-Ler), the Nature Core (the Lorax), and the Greed Core (Greed-Ler).

Story goes like this:
Originally, all the cores were a sphere body but once Aperture started designing android bodies, they started transferring the cores from the spheres to the androids. Except that they never quite got around to transferring all the cores before a certain incident with deadly neruotoxin. Anyway, the Nature Core ended up stuck in a sphere body and never got transferred. Not that he really seemed to care all that much.
The Optimism Core, however, was never actually in a sphere body. He was programmed directly into his android body. That's because he is actually Optimism 2.0.
The Greed Core was the first Optimism Core but when He was transferred from His core body into his android one, He got corrupted. And thus was born the Greed Core.
Anyway, the Optimism Core found the Nature Core sitting abandoned somewhere, sort of forcefully became his friend, and now carries him around all over the place. The Optimism Core built the guitar himself out of pieces of scrapped Aperture tech and, not having the ability to fix the broken port on the back of the Nature Core, tied the yellow scrap of cloth around the sphere (he says it looks like a mustache and has started calling Nature by that name). The Greed Core, on the other hand, spent his time in the dark depths of the facility and built himself an ax. Because he could.
All three of the cores can be referred to as either by their personality or their "name", they respond to either.

And they're all definitely very, very careful to stay out of GLaDOS' way. Though it seems like Greed-Ler spends an awful lot of time planning to do something that's probably not good for anyone.
